INTERNATIONAL MACROBIOTIC CONFERENCE 2026
20 – 22 October 2026, Zagreb, Croatia
The Transformative Power of Macrobiotic Philosophy & Practice

At a time of profound global change and challenges, macrobiotic philosophy offers practical wisdom for living with clarity, balance, and purpose. This Conference is an invitation to reconnect thinking, health, and food as one integrated path toward personal and collective vitality.
Together, we explore how timeless principles can inspire meaningful action in today’s world.
In this year’s Conference, we would like to explore and present three subfields, and each day is dedicated to one of them. You are invited to participate with your presentation and contribute to the content of the conference.
In this subtopic we'd like to learn and share experience on the following:
-
Macrobiotics as a life philosophy in the 21st century
-
Yin/Yang as a tool for understanding complexity
-
Resilience, balance, and vitality in times of crisis
-
How to make decisions aligned with natural principles
-
Macrobiotics and mental/emotional health
In this subtopic emphasis would be on:
-
Practical experience (what works, what doesn’t)
-
Integration of macrobiotics with modern science
-
Individual approaches (there is no “one diet for everyone”)
Possible thematic areas:
-
Macrobiotics and chronic diseases today
-
Nutrition, stress and the nervous system
-
Fermentation, microbiome, tradition and science
-
Macrobiotics in different life stages
-
Where does macrobiotics need to evolve?
This day we will spend at Zrno Organic Farm – pioneering Croatian organic farm that is a close partner with Makronova Institute.
Why organic farming matters:
-
It closes the circle: philosophy → nutrition → source of food
-
Zrno Organic Farm is a concrete, living example of this circle and business model along with Makronova Institute, bio&bio organic stores retail chain and Planetopija publishing house
Here we'd like to emphasize following topics:
-
Producer – community relationship
-
Regenerative agriculture – beyond just organic agriculture
-
Food as a social act, not just a product
-
Impact for young people: authenticity, practice, experience
ABOUT YOUR HOST

Makronova is a place where education becomes experience and knowledge turns into a way of life.
Founded in 1985 by Jadranka Boban Pejić and Zlatko Pejić, Makronova emerged from a visionary idea: that true health and sustainability begin with conscious everyday choices.
What started as a pioneering initiative has grown into a respected adult education center and a creative hub for holistic living. Through thoughtfully designed workshops, courses, lectures and retreats, Makronova explores the deep connection between food, body, mind, relationships and the environment.
At the heart of its philosophy lies the concept of personal ecology — the understanding that caring for oneself naturally extends to caring for others and the planet. Makronova continues to inspire individuals and communities to live more consciously, responsibly and in harmony with nature.
Makronova is situated in the very heart of the city center, just
a two-minute walk from the main town square.
Our address is Ilica 11/ 1st floor.
